We are a small school in northern Dutchess County serving grades 2-5. Our enrollment of 275 students allows us to provide personal attention to their needs and foster their success. We know our students and they know we care. We are extremely proud of our amazing school. Highlights of our program:

  • Our ELA blocks are 90 minutes in duration and we use the Reading Wonders curriculum to support fiction and non-fiction reading growth, writing, and foundational skills.  Other supplemental resources include Fountas & Pinnell, Write Source, Spelling City, Raz Kids, Reading Mastery, Fundations, and Words Their Way.

  • Our Math blocks are 60 minutes and are supported through the NYS Modules by Eureka Math.

  • Science & Social Studies blocks are 30 minutes in duration.

  • Each grade level incorporates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) into their science blocks.

  • We are on a 6 day Specials cycle rotation schedule. Specials Areas include PE , Art, Music, Library, and Computers.

  • Recess is 30 minutes.  Thanks to Senator Sue Serino, we were able to purchase 2 brand new structures for our playground in 2017.

  • There is a 60 minute block of flexible scheduling that occurs everyday.  During this FLEX time, students are scheduled to receive Academic Intervention Services (AIS), and or Enrichment services.

  • Extracurricular programs include Band, Chorus, Lego Robotics, Yearbook, Newspaper, Drama, and Math Club, as well as Student Council.

  • Athletic clubs and activities are run through the towns we service.

  • Throughout the year we partner with Stissing Mountain Jr/Sr High to collaborate on such endeavors as teh FFA Ag Day program, Varsity Club workshops, The Stissing Theater Guild production, Math Club, and Girl Wise among others.

  • Our one to one device program gives each student a lap top computer to use during the school year.  This program allows us to give our students constant access to current and worldwide resources.

  • Community outreach opportunities include Socktober Club, Sparrow's Nest, Food Drives for the Food Pantry, DCSPCA Pet Supply Drives, among others.

  • We employ Project Based Learning and continue to grow its use in our building.

  • Our buildings and grounds are spotless and beautiful, a true testament to our maintenance and custodial staff.

  • EVERY member of our school community matters- students, parents, teachers and staff- we all work together to show how each student ROARS!
